Optimal Well Being
The two exercises that I have had the most success with and think that I can implement into my daily life are loving-kindness and subtle mind. I chose these mainly for the breathing exercises and the way they seem to relax and quiet my mind (somewhat). My mind doesn't wander as much as it use to mainly because I make sure and find a quiet place away from any loud distractions. :)Belly breathing has really helped me to focus attention away from distractions and focus on my breathing. I can do this during work while I'm at the computer, and no one is aware that I'm doing a wellness exercise. The loving-kindness exercise can be done anytime during the day when I am home, but I think that performing it just before I come to work will help me be more compassionate toward my supervisor and manager(she's a real piece of work) and help me get through my hectic day. This exercise along with the subtle mind exercise can be done when I have a few moments in my office or during breaks. When I come home both of these exercises are good for winding down;especially the subtle-mind exercise.

Great game plan Penny. I think you have hopefully found a positive way to deal with a difficult work environment. I agree with your thought that the loving-kindness exercise will help be more compassionate and understanding at work. Good luck with your plan and keep us all posted as to how these exercises help you at work.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to deal with a "difficult" boss. I love the belly breathing at the computer, what a great idea! It seems that all the breathing really helps with clearing the mind and getting me re-centered. Good luck with your adventure in finding complete mind, body and spiritual health.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great plan of action. I do not have a place I can retreat to when I am in need of a moment of serinity as I am constantly on my feet. I do try to refer back to the loving kind exercise when things are hectic. Co-workers and patients can really can test your patients at times. Breathing definitly slows the thought process and aides in improving your mood.
ReplyDeleteFocusing on breathing really helps to get you in the mindset for a meditation. We have so many little thoughts coming and going in our head. It sounds like you have a plan and that's wonderful. Keep it up and bring stress levels down. =)
